Week Eight
For the rest of the semester, you will be using a web page editor rather than Notepad. NotePad was the first program used to produce html. In fact, my first class site, Technical Reporting, was created in Notepad. That's tedious work, however, and web designers use a variety of web page editors instead. This assignment is also worth 25 points.
Read
- Read The Trouble with wysiwyg to find out why you are using a web editor in between Notepad and the wysiwyg editors.
- Read about AlleyCode in the help files (see below) under Features and Commands
Discuss
Participate in Discussion Question Three
Practice
- Download and install AlleyCode
- Become acquainted with your AlleyCode editor by working through this online tutorial When you follow the link, look at the menu on the left and choose Quick Start Tutorials. Then do the first tutorial called Build. Or open Alleycode on your computer and click on HELP. You'll see the Quick Start Tutorials and can chose Build. (You'll use the others when we get to css.)
Create
- Once you feel comfortable with the way AlleyCode works and looks using the tutorial, open the pages you created in Notepad to see how they look.
- Finally, ftp the work you did for the tutorial to a SEPARATE folder (not eportfolio) and send me the link. DUE: between March 9-12
